Connect with Corrin

Hi, I’m Corrin (she/her). I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist living and practicing in beautiful San Diego.

I am passionate about the power of the therapeutic process and helping individuals and families find hope and healing. Together, we will set goals and work towards achieving them - all at a pace that works best for you and your relationships.

I specialize in working with adults, adolescents and families living with depression, anxiety, trauma, and challenges in relationships. I also have significant experience working in higher levels of care settings and with folks navigating substance use, disordered eating, personality disorders, suicidal ideation and self-harm.

My practice engages a trauma-informed approach with the evidenced-based practices of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness. Most importantly, I will approach you with a person-centered lens; drawing on your strengths and experiences to tailor treatment to your specific needs and point of view.

I aim to de-construct stigma and shame and provide a safe, inclusive, and affirming environment to empower you towards healing.  I am excited to work with you, no matter your background and identities. You can be assured that I intend to listen, objectively and without judgment.

On a personal note, I am a proud Latina therapist that brings forth an understanding of the intersection of identities and all the challenges and celebration that may bring.

When I am not in my office, I enjoy exploring hidden gems in San Diego, seeing live music, practicing yoga, and spending quality time with my friends, family and shiba inu, Bilbo Waggins.

You are welcomed to contact me for a complementary consultation.

I look forward to connecting with you.

Corrin utilizes evidenced-based practices to teach effective communication and problem-solving skills to help you navigate life’s stressors.

Treatment Approaches

  • Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma-Informed Care acknowledges that life’s challenges are not a matter of what is “wrong” with you, but instead, what happened to you. This approach aims to acknowledge trauma as a source of stress that needs to be understood and processed. TIC is a treatment model that is strengths-based and client-centered in order to promote safety and empowerment.

  • Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy is an evidenced-based model that is future-focused and goal-directed. When it feels like you are drowning in a sea of problems, this approach aims to shift focus onto solutions. SFT emphasizes the use of problem-solving skills as well as the identification for strengths, resources and exceptions to the problems you are facing.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy is based on the connection between your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. This evidenced-based approach helps clients identify negative thoughts that cause them to “spiral” and provides the framework to break free from those unhelpful thought patterns. CBT also aims to teach coping skills to manage emotional and relationship challenges. CBT can be applied to an array of challenges including but not limited to depression, anxiety, OCD and trauma.

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy is an evidence-based modality that focuses on skill-building as a means to manage overwhelming emotions. DBT helps clients find balance by engaging the reasonable mind with the emotional mind. DBT was initially developed for the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder, and has been an effective line of treatment of mood disorders, anxiety, eating disorders, trauma and substance abuse.
